Wanda Lively grew up near Beckley, West Virginia. So did Margaret Cook.

The girls were neighbors in the 1930s and ’40s, growing up in the same area.

Fast forward to October 2016, and the former neighbors reunited – 400 miles away!

Cook and Lively were both residents at Life Care Center of Charleston, South Carolina, for five days. Lively was there for short-term rehabilitation, and Cook came for respite care. They even lived on the same unit and shared the same dining room table.

Louis Prantil, director of food and nutrition at the facility, talked a bit with the ladies as they were dining one day.

“They mostly were talking about different places in the area like schools and stores,” said Prantil. “As we chatted, we came to find out that they both have two children who live here in South Carolina.”

The neighbors have since returned to their families.
